Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) successfully convened a landmark meeting of faith and health leaders in Lilongwe.
On 29 May 2026, the Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) successfully convened a landmark meeting of faith and health leaders in Lilongwe. Facilitated by CHAM’s Executive Director, Happy Makala, the gathering brought together representatives from Christian and Muslim communities to share outcomes from the CCIH Nairobi Faith Leaders Advocacy Forum (November 2025). The dialogue focused on how Malawi’s faith leaders can translate continental commitments into local action strengthening health financing, promoting maternal and child health, addressing adolescent SRHR, and integrating faith based providers into national health systems. We were honored to have Muslim leaders actively participate alongside our Christian counterparts, underscoring that health is a shared value across all faiths. The meeting produced an initial advocacy roadmap for 2026 - 2027. Thank you to CCIH for the continued partnership, and to every faith and health leader who contributed to this milestone. Together, we are building a healthier, more equitable Malawi.
